Board 84 Annual Golf Tournament
Honoring the Legacy of Ralph Catuogno
Since 2020, the Board 84 Annual Golf Tournament has been more than just a day on the course, it’s been a tribute to a remarkable man, Ralph Catuongo. What began as a desire to give back has grown into a lasting tradition that celebrates Ralph’s legacy of mentorship, leadership, and generosity.
Ralph was more than a mentor — he was a role model, a philanthropist, and a true friend. He inspired countless men and women within Board 84, always leading with integrity and putting others first. His values continue to guide our work as basketball officials and as a community.
Each year, we honor Ralph’s spirit by giving back. Thanks to the support of donors like you, we’ve raised over $300,000 and awarded scholarships to dozens of high school athletes in pursuing a college education.
This annual event brings together officials, coaches, community leaders, and corporate partners in a shared mission: to give back and build futures.
We invite you to help us keep this meaningful tradition alive, your generous donation makes a difference.

John Coletti and Rich Mona were recently featured on the Community Matters segment of WEEI Providence 103.7 with host Scott Cordischi.
During the interview, they discussed the mission and significance of the Board 84 Golf Tournament and the lasting impact of the Ralph Catuogno Memorial Scholarship.
This meaningful conversation highlights how the tournament supports Rhode Island student-athletes and honors Ralph Catuogno’s enduring legacy within the officiating and athletic community.

How the Ralph Catuongo Memorial Scholarship Began
The Ralph Catuongo Memorial Scholarship was born from a simple car ride conversation in 1988, when officials Frank Ianetta and the late Frank Florio proposed the idea to have a lasting impact on RIIL student-athletes. Over a friendly card game, Ralph embraced the vision, and the scholarship was launched through the Board 84 Christmas Basketball Tournament.
Starting with just four teams and a single $500 award—funded entirely by referees volunteering their game fees—the program laid the foundation for something much greater. In 2020, thanks to the success of the Board 84 Annual Golf Tournament, the fund expanded to support ten $1,000 scholarships and one $2,000 scholarship annually, helping even more student-athletes pursue higher education.
